This case study describes the design journey behind designing a landing page for India's First Jaggery Rum called Huli from Mysore, Karnataka. This personal project aimed to capture Huli's history, craft, notes and signature into a visually enticing story. The landing page caters to store owners and rum enthusiasts all around the world.

Challenges

The primary challenges here included defining the brand identity for Huli, adhering to legal guidelines while designing the landing page and narrating Huli's story through visual elements.

Design Solution

I created a moodboard to capture Huli's essence and draw inspiration from other Rum brands and established a visual design language for Huli by defining the brand colors, typography and aesthetics. I ascertained how consumers and store owners would make a purchase decision about Huli and derived the information architecture for the landing page. I also experimented with AI generated content for the brand's assets and sketched wireframes to ensure harmony in the visuals and in the copy of the landing page.

After multiple visual iterations and critical feedback sessions, I arrived at a story that combined the traditional roots of Huli and its modern notes into a succinct yet enticing website. I aimed to make the consumers and store owners feel like they were experiencing the drink as they scrolled through the page.

Outcomes

While it was quite challenging to establish a brand identity and curate a landing page for a new product, it gave me a lot of creative freedom to experiment and trust my taste. Through this process I learnt how essential it is to thoroughly learn a product's design language in order to craft an optimal experience for its users.
